HDPE double-wall corrugated pipe installation steps and precautions

2025-04-18 14:21

As a high-performance drainage pipe, HDPE double-wall corrugated pipe is widely used in municipal drainage, rainwater and sewage diversion, farmland irrigation and other fields due to its excellent ring stiffness, corrosion resistance and ease of construction. Its unique double-wall corrugated structure gives the pipe excellent compression and deformation resistance, ensuring long-term stable operation under complex geological conditions. However, standardized installation is the key to ensuring the efficiency and safety of the pipeline system. From groove design to interface processing, every step must strictly follow technical standards. This article will systematically analyze the entire installation process of HDPE double-wall corrugated pipe, and point out common misunderstandings and preventive measures in construction, to help engineering personnel create zero-leakage, durable drainage solutions.

Preparation before installation
Before installing the HDPE double-wall corrugated pipe, the installation surface of the pipe must be thoroughly cleaned. This is a key step to ensure the quality of the connection and the stability of the pipeline performance. By removing surface impurities and contaminants, the resistance during the connection can be reduced, and the tightness and reliability of the connection can be improved.
When installing the HDPE double-wall corrugated pipe, the rubber seal needs to be installed correctly. This seal plays a vital role in the pipe connection. It can enhance the tightness of the connection and prevent leakage. Ensuring that the rubber ring is intact and properly installed at the interface is an important part of ensuring the safe operation of the pipeline system.
After completing the installation of the rubber seal, the next step is cleaning and lubrication. This step is also indispensable, and it is related to the smoothness and durability of the pipe connection. By thoroughly cleaning the interface, any impurities and dirt that may affect the connection can be removed to ensure the purity and tightness of the connection. Lubrication can further reduce friction during the connection and extend the service life.

To ensure that the pipe can be inserted smoothly and accurately into the predetermined position, we have prepared the following series of installation tools:
Lubricant: Use detergent mixed with water or 2# grease to reduce friction and facilitate smooth insertion of the pipe.
Ruler: 40CM long, used for measurement and positioning to ensure the accuracy of pipe insertion.
Crowbar: used to assist in the insertion and adjustment of the pipe.
Traction rope: 4 4M long steel ropes, with jacks made of rope clips at both ends, used to pull and fix the pipe.
Hand chain hoist: According to the different inner diameters of the pipe, 1T or 2T hand chain hoists are selected to provide sufficient pulling force to ensure the stable insertion of the pipe.
Wooden baffle: Prepare baffles of different sizes according to the specifications of the pipe to support and fix the pipe to prevent it from moving or tilting.
With these carefully prepared installation tools, we can complete the insertion of the pipe more efficiently and accurately, laying a solid foundation for the smooth operation of the pipeline system.

When connecting the HDPE double-wall corrugated pipe, ensure that the first and second slots are equipped with rubber rings. The downstream faucet should be installed upstream of the socket, and the installation process should follow the order from downstream to upstream. When connecting the pipes, you can use a traction rope or a sliding joint to assist, and pull up the two sides of the synchronous pipe to slide at the same time to ensure that the rubber ring can adapt to the distortion-free state and fall correctly. In order to prevent the pipeline axis from moving when combined, appropriate fixing measures should be taken to ensure the stability of the connection.

When connecting HDPE double-wall corrugated pipes, ensure that the rubber ring is installed in place. It is recommended to use fiberglass sleeves for large-diameter pipes with a diameter of more than 500, while PE sleeves are suitable for small-diameter pipes with a diameter of less than 400. It is particularly important to note that HDPE sleeves are only suitable for rainwater pipes, while fiberglass sleeves must be used for sewage pipes. The order from downstream to upstream should be followed during installation, and fixed measures should be taken to prevent the movement of the pipeline axis to ensure a stable connection. When backfilling, the relevant provisions of the "Technical Regulations for Buried Polyethylene Drainage Pipeline Engineering" should be strictly followed.

For problems that may be encountered during the connection of elastic sealing rings, such as sharp objects on the foundation, incomplete cleaning of the sleeve, and insufficient lubrication, these problems need to be identified and solved to improve the overall quality of the connection. Common problems include damage to the outer wall of the pipe, cracks in the sleeve, the inner wall of the sleeve is not cleaned during connection, and there is no lubrication measure. Improvement measures include ensuring that the axis of the sleeve and the pipe are consistent, avoiding large resistance when the sleeve contacts the pipe, and using lubricants to ensure that the pipe is evenly pulled in all directions to improve the overall quality of the connection.
